Academy collaboration with AIESEC

On the 22^nd December 2016, the Academy for Integrated and Sustainable Development (AISD) and the International Association of Students in Economic and Commercial Sciences (AIESEC) launched their first project together.

A group of five international interns were invited to engage with the academy over three weeks.  Together, they would develop AISD services that benefit lives today and will enhance many more lives in the future.  The group of interns comprised of Aarushi, a Business and Liberal Arts student from Ahmedabad, India, Artur Fernandes Costa, a Mechanical Engineering student from São Paulo of Brazil, Afrin, a Business student from Punjab, India, Namit, a Business student from Chennai, India, and Marzook, a Mechanical Engineering student from Uttar Pradesh, India.  

Yogic garden

Having met for the first time ever, the interns have come together to contribute their talents and their unique perspectives as a team of young global citizens.  They got the opportunity to create an accurate digital map of the Yogic garden and label each plot with a value.  Visitors of the academy are now able to discover plots of truth, peace, love, determination, gentleness, positive, compassion, creativity, caring, faith, happiness, courage, power, discipline, adaptivity, accuracy, respect, maturity, honesty and purity.

Every plot must be cherished and its power, to sustain life, must be respected and harnessed.  By developing a gardening calendar, the interns helped choregraph soil preparation, yogic activation and germination of seeds, transplantation, crop rotation and harvesting.  The academy welcomes the magnificent benefits of innovation and technology.  The interns embraced the chance to plan a practical and cost-effective irrigation system and a sound system for each Yogic plot, for enhancing the growth of crops, soil living organisms and the aether for the wandering visitors, in quest of physical and emotional wellness. 

Academy open day

On 16^th January 2017, the academy greeted with the AIESEC team, the new year with an open day for school kids to take away with them, the souvenirs of a fun day at AISD.  Forty kids from Hampton Schools of Curepipe and Quatre Bornes and their teachers graced us of their presence.  It was a cherished moment when they arrived and appeased in the peaceful learning space and were eager to start the day. There were various captivating activities organised for a fun day, namely:

• Workshop themed “follow your dreams”.  The kids were blessed with wise words from Curepipe BK centre Director, Academy President, Hampton Principal and AEISEC team leader.  Then, an inspirational and beautiful presentation on Walt Disney was the perfect segue into a debate where the keen ones expressed their dreams.
• Treasure hunt around the Yogic garden.  With a map of the garden, the team collaborated to retrieve specific leaves in the shortest time.  The winning team welcomed with huge smiles and a resounding cheer, a box of cakes.  The big-hearted kids shared their treasures with everyone which made for a remarkable moment.    
• Virtue wheel.  The kids gathered into files and each picked up a virtue by spinning the wheel.  They were amazed to realise what their virtues meant.  They now know that living their virtue will bloom their dreams.  
• Photo booth.  Inside the marquee erected for the open day, the kids took amazing pictures of themselves as virtuous drivers of the Peace van with road signs of Love heart and Peace doves.
